Stars Dazzle In Sparkly Jewellery At The BAFTAs

The BAFTAs is the UK’s answer to the Oscars, so it’s no wonder that celebrities came out in their finery for the prestigious event. As well as looking at their trendsetting outfits, our eyes were fixated on the jewellery showcased on the red carpet.

Here we pick some of the best accessories seen at this year’s British Academy Film and Television Awards held at the Royal Festival Hall earlier this week.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Anya Taylor-Joy is no stranger to turning heads when she rocks up at award ceremonies, with the striking young actress having her own eclectic style.

The 76th BAFTAs was no different, as Anya wore a crushed velvet mini dress with oversized cape to attend the ceremony. She teamed her futuristic outfit with the Tiffany & Co Archives necklace in gold with encrusted diamonds. She is also thought to have worn three gold and diamond Tiffany rings for extra dazzle.

Helen Mirren

British film legend Helen Mirren also impressed when she hosted an award at the event, dazzling the audience with her long dangling diamond earrings.

The Queen actress wore the impressive pieces with a black chiffon dress decorated with white flowers. Helen, 77, joined the majority of stars that night who chose a monochrome outfit, including Julian Moore, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Thompson, and even the Princess of Wales.

Duchess of Cambridge

Speaking of the Duchess of Cambridge, our very own princess went for an alternative choice when it came to her jewellery as she attended the awards.

Arriving on the red carpet with Prince William, president of the BAFTAs, Catherine wowed crowds by wearing a pair of gold, cascading floral earrings with her Alexander McQueen gown.

The 41-year-old chose the £18 earrings from the high street to create a different look to her Grecian white dress, which she had previously worn to the 2019 BAFTAs. She also teamed the recycled frock with a pair of long black gloves, which fashion experts say are going to be a huge trend this year.

Sheila Atim

One of the only celebrities not wearing black and white was Sheila Atim, a Ugandan-British performer.

The star of Bruised, Pinocchio and Harlots was attending the ceremony for her latest project entitled The Woman King, which was nominated for two gongs, best leading actress and best director.

Although the film lost out on both awards, Sheila looked as though she had a great time, turning up in an eye-catching strapless silver gown and dying her cropped hair purple.

Her jewellery, including dangling diamond earrings and a huge choker with five layers of diamonds, did most of the talking, however.

She proved chokers are going to be the accessory of the year with her jewellery choice, and Julianne Moore, Sara Sampaio and winner Cate Blanchett were all wearing one at the ceremony.

You might not be attending the BAFTAs anytime soon, but if you’ve got an event you want to look your best for coming up, why not take inspiration from the celebrities? A choker with crystals or statement earrings will certainly bring an outfit to life
